On Saturday, 17th October 1981, the foundation stone of the Television Service of Oyo State (TSOS) now BCOS TV was laid. It was an epoch-making event. Governor Bola Ige at the foundation laying ceremony declared

“Today we are making history. We are not only exercising
our right under the Nigerian Constitution, we are also
laying the foundation of what will God
willing, to be the best television edifice in Nigeria.
Also, we are all witnessing the birth
of what will become the “Mecca”
of Television Industry in Nigeria”.
 

BCOS Television has indeed come of age with over Four decades of quality television
broadcast, covering all aspects of broadcasting in Entertainment, Education, Information
and Social.

The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State through a state-owned broadcast station with
radio and television channels and by virtue of this, a government-financed station
as over the years, jealously guarded its independence from government interference in
its news and programs contents.
